The Remembrance Tree brings our community together to remember loved ones at Christmas, while raising much needed funds for local charities. It has become a heart-warming tradition in Carlow, since its beginnings in 2011.

Our local charities greatly appreciate the donations from this fundraiser. Our beneficiaries in 2025 are Carlow Delta Centre, St. Vincent De Paul, Bethany House (Alzheimer Society of Ireland) and Éist Carlow Cancer Support.

Timeline of Events:
Early December: Opening Ceremony with guest speaker, carols and a blessing of the tree at Barrack Street, Carlow.
- The 2025 opening ceremony takes place at 6.30pm Friday December 12th - all are welcome.
Adding Ribbons Throughout Campaign Dates in December: Make a donation and add a ribbon with your loved ones name to the tree.
- In December 2025 our volunteers will be there to help you everyday from Thursday 11th until December 24th (Christmas Eve).
The ribbons remain on the tree throughout the Christmas holiday.
Blessing of the Ribbons in Early January: The ribbons are taken to Carlow Cathedral and presented for a special blessing during Sunday mass, with prayers dedicated to all named on the ribbons.

Donations are welcome at the tree from December 11th through to 24th. Online donations are also welcome.
How to Add Your Ribbon
Visit the tree: Our tree is located on Barrack street in Carlow town. Our volunteers will be there to help you to add your ribbon (along with your message) to the tree. This year our volunteers will also be fundraising on selected dates at Fairgreen Shopping Centre. Give what you can, it’s all appreciated by our worthy charities.
Donate Online: When donating online, let us know who you’d like to remember and we’ll add their name to a ribbon on the tree.
